Beneficence in Nursing Homes: How to deploy an approach in my facility?
The importance of benevolent care in EHPADs
Well-treatment within nursing homes is of crucial importance to guarantee the well-being, dignity, and quality of life of residents. Promoting well-treatment involves strengthening a model of support and care for residents in institutions that emphasizes their needs, expectations, and preferences. This means encouraging the active participation of users in decision-making regarding their care. The implementation of a culture of well-treatment ultimately contributes to increasing the safety of care and, more generally, to improving the health status of residents.

Founded by two physicians committed to improving patient safety and quality of care and reducing medical errors, SafeTeam Academy's mission is to promote a culture of well-being and safety within the overall project of the structures. Dedicated modules have been developed to meet this objective:
- Management of behavioral disorders in the elderly (P13.1)
- Distribute meals in compliance with health standards and taking into account the needs of residents in nursing homes (P17.1)
- Individualize support for residents in nursing homes (EHPAD) (P17.2)

A word from the director of the CCECQA

"Working with a team on the theme of patient safety may simply mean asking them to reflect on their day-to-day work. Taking a step back from one's own practice, the desire to create together, exchanging views, working in a friendly atmosphere and rediscovering a team dynamic are all elements that promote a culture of patient safety.
The CCECQA, alongside Forap, has long been committed to promoting benevolent care through the production of guides and tools. Today, in a context where current events in nursing homes have been able to traumatize teams, residents, and families, restoring the desire to find meaning in one's work is crucial. Talking about it is essential.
Thus, the regular use of scenario analyses to freely discuss situations elsewhere to prevent this type of situation here has demonstrated its impact on the development of a safety culture.
Therefore, the CCECQA is developing a partnership with SafeTeam Academy to complement the digital simulation tools available to professionals in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. »
