Your Patient Safety Week 2024 with SafeTeam Academy
This year, Patient Safety Week 2024 will take place from September 16 to 20. Usually scheduled in November, it has been brought forward to coincide with the WHO (World Health Organization) World Patient Safety Day.
We have gathered in this article all the resources that can help you organize Safety Week within your hospital.
A little background
Patient Safety Week (also called SSP) is an event dedicated to action and awareness. Each hospital must organize workshops to raise awareness among both professionals and users about the practices essential to the quality of care.
Diagnosis as a focus of work
The theme of Patient Safety Week 2024 is "Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety".
Accurate, rapid diagnosis is crucial to patient safety. However, it is often hampered by systemic problems, such as lack of communication between caregivers and with patients, excessive workloads or a lack of awareness of one's limitations. Cognitive difficulties, such as lack of training, experience, fatigue or bias, can also negatively impact diagnosis and lead to errors.
This year's objectives
Patient Safety Week 2024 aims to promote the improvement of diagnosis. It seeks to recall the essential principles of safety, to enrich the knowledge of professionals, and to significantly enhance the quality and safety of care.
Healthcare providers are encouraged to become aware of the risks associated with diagnostic errors, to understand their responsibility in the safety of care, and to familiarize themselves with the tools and resources available to support them.
The tools at your disposal
Over the years, we have developed various tools to help teams develop their non-technical skills. The mobilization of these skills, also called soft skills, allows teams to reduce medical errors and thus improve the safety of care.
Our new white paper focused on the subject
Our brand new white paper focuses on establishing a sustainable and robust safety culture. It covers a multitude of topics ranging from current field issues, the benefits of implementing a safety culture, etc. Practical and accessible tools are also shared with you.
This document is developed with Emmanuel RAGGI, trainer and independent consultant in Organizational and Human Factors and Safety Culture, and Guillaume TIRTIAUX, airline pilot, CRM trainer and author of "Better Success Together".

Posters
Each of the 4 posters highlights a work axis allowing teams to best conduct diagnoses. These work axes are designed as “allies” or tools for medical staff. The posters are deliberately concise to encourage team discussions on the subject.
Feel free to print them out and display them in the break room or somewhere your teams can easily access them.
Personalization with your logo is possible upon request.
