Positive Treatment in Nursing Homes: How to Implement an Approach in My Facility?
The Importance of Positive Treatment in Nursing Homes
Positive treatment within nursing homes is crucial to guaranteeing the well-being, dignity, and quality of life of residents. Promoting positive treatment involves strengthening a model of support and care for residents in facilities that emphasizes their needs, expectations, and preferences. This means encouraging the active participation of users in decision-making regarding their care. The implementation of a culture of compassionate care ultimately contributes to increasing the safety of care and, more generally, to improving the health of residents.

A word from the director of the CCECQA

“Working with a team on good treatment can simply mean suggesting that they reflect on their daily routine. Taking a step back from one's practice, wanting to create together, sharing perspectives, working in a friendly atmosphere, and rediscovering team dynamics are all elements that foster a culture of patient safety. The CCECQA, alongside Forap, has long been committed to promoting respectful care through the production of guides and tools. Today, in a context where recent events in nursing homes have deeply affected staff, residents, and families, rekindling motivation and a sense of purpose in one's work is crucial. Talking about it is essential. Thus, the regular use of scenario analysis, which allows for open discussion of situations from other settings to prevent similar situations locally, has demonstrated its impact on developing a safety culture. This is why the CCECQA is developing a partnership with the SafeTeam Academy to complement the digital simulation tools available to professionals in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. »
