This training course reviews all the stages and best practices required to conduct a morbidity and mortality review meeting.

🔷 Description

Pre-requisites:

  • Be a healthcare system professional

Duration:

  • 1 hour 30 minutes independently
  • 1 hour in a group (videoconference debriefing)

HAS certification criteria:

  • Criterion 3.1-04: The hospital promotes a culture of reporting adverse events, including near misses.
  • Criterion 3.2-04: The hospital trains its professionals in risk management using healthcare simulation tools.

PART 1: autonomous, asynchronous

  • ‍Introduction totraining
  • Pre-test (positioning test)
  • Video simulation
    • Immersive video-simulation of the moderator of a morbidity and mortality review, organized to analyze a medication error leading to anaphylactic shock.
    • Filmed interview: synthesis, situation analysis, focus on tools and methods for structuring and organizing a Morbidity and Mortality Review (MMR), focus on essential rules and errors to avoid during an MMR.
  • Summary of key points to remember
    • Master the 3 security models to better understand the issues.
      • Ultra-secure model.
      • Resilient model.
      • HRO model.
    • Provision of an editable template to facilitate a Morbidity and Mortality Review (MMR).
  • ‍Post-test (measuring progress and validating skills) & Action plan
  • ‍Training assessment

PART 2: collective, videoconference debriefing

  • Video-simulation debriefing with a teamwork expert
    • Identify discrepancies between professional practice and best practices to improve the conduction of Morbidity and Mortality Reviews (MMR).
    • Identify individual and team areas for improvement.
    • Establish an individual and collective action plan to strengthen teamwork.
